Susan Waits began her journey into the heart of yoga eight years ago, but became serious about deepening her practice, and her overall knowledge in 2012. She completed her 200-hour teacher training at Midtown Yoga in 2013, and is registered with Yoga Alliance. In 2015, she became certified as a Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist through Himalayan Institute. In 2016, Susan completed training as a Martha Beck life coach, which brings her healing journey full circle. This fall, she will offer regular workshops at Midtown Yoga that incorporate Mind Body life coaching tools with yoga.
Susan instructs the following:
Alignment Based Yoga
This class focuses on proper body alignment while practicing the traditional yoga postures. Foundation level.
Vinyasa means "flow" or merging movement with the breath. These classes focus on breathing and seek to move students through a sequence of postures as the breath flows in and out. Using this breath, heat or "tapas" warms the body allowing the practitioner to move deeper into postures and eventually deeper into their own personal practice. Vinyasa yoga increases strength, stamina and flexibility while calming and steadying the mind. This class style is inherently diverse and sequencing will vary with each instructor's personal flavor. Open level.
Slow and Steady
This Vinyasa class offers a slow and steady flow with movement in and out of the poses on the breath. Foundation level.
