A graduate of Midtown Yoga's 2014, 200-hr Vinyasa teacher training, Hailey comes to us with fresh eyes and a contagious, enthusiastic energy.
Yoga peeked an interest to her in 2010 when she was working as a pole fitness instructor. Having a gymnastic background, she was naturally drawn to the balance of strength and flexibility found in the practice. However, her interest for yoga became a love for yoga when Hailey started to notice the healing qualities of yoga in her body and mind. Prior to her focus on pole fitness, she played rugby for 7 years.
"Yoga changed my life physically. I had a lot of wear and tear after playing a high impact sport for so many years. I came to yoga searching for an increase in flexibility for pole fitness. In addition to, I found a way to gently strengthen, repair, and rebuild my stabilizer muscles that I had damaged and neglected for so long. I am stronger than ever! I'd also like to add, Teacher training was such an eye opening experience for me. I experienced the physical benefits of yoga on my own but getting my RYT-200 showed me how to find balance in my body, mind, and spirit; on and off the mat. That is what yoga is all about and I am so excited to share this experience with everyone."
Hailey instructs the following:
Ayurvedic Vinyasa Yoga
This class brings balance and order to the body and mind by applying ayurvedic principles to a vinyasa yoga practice. As the seasons and our busy lives constantly shift and change, ayurveda helps us thrive in the midst of our constantly changing situation.
Combining yoga inspired postures with light aerobic movement is the goal of this class. Designed to build and tone lean muscle mass while cultivating strength and stamina. Although not required, you may bring your own 3-5lb weights. Open level.
Vinyasa means "flow" or merging movement with the breath. These classes focus on breathing and seek to move students through a sequence of postures as the breath flows in and out. Using this breath, heat or "tapas" warms the body allowing the practitioner to move deeper into postures and eventually deeper into their own personal practice. Vinyasa yoga increases strength, stamina and flexibility while calming and steadying the mind. This class style is inherently diverse and sequencing will vary with each instructor's personal flavor. Open level.
Aerial Yoga is the practice that fuses together the two art forms of yoga and aerial dance. All classes utilize an aerial hammock that is made from a soft fabric strong enough to support our body weight (and then some!). This hammock is a wonderful tool to teach students how to align their bodies within a variety of yoga postures as well as experiencing inversions without any compression on the spine! Only those students who have experience with aerial yoga or aerial silks may attend. Only 4 spots available in class. Class reservations must be cancelled no more than 24 hours in advance. Open level.
AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of therapeutics, and the dynamic power of acrobatics. These three lineages form the foundation of a unique practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. Building upon the framework of cultivating skillful partnership, AcroYoga provides a vehicle to explore positive and supportive relationships with an emphasis on honest, clear and compassionate communication. The practice inherently creates a strong bond and fosters a sense of community among the participants. This class is partner work including a base, a flyer and a spotter. Our aim is to provide a safe area to practice and to play. No partner necessary. No experience necessary. Open level.
